Scarlett is living something we are all learning.

That love is not only something we feel. It is something we choose.

Even in the moments that challenge us the most.

In this conversation, we will explore:

  • When fear is present and love is still possible
  • The difference within you between reacting and choosing
  • What your experiences are showing you about yourself

The Story Behind The Movement

A six-year-old boy wrote three words on a chalkboard:

Nurturing. Healing. Love.

That same day, his mother lost him.

And in that moment, something became clear — something most of us spend a lifetime trying to understand:

That love is not only something we feel.
It is something we can choose.

And while your experience may be different, you have known moments of pain.

Moments of loss. Moments when fear was present.

And in those moments, you also have a choice.

Scarlett Lewis founded the Choose Love Movement after her six-year-old son, Jesse, was killed during the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in December 2012.

That day, Jesse, alongside 19 of his classmates and six educators, lost his life.

In his final moments, Jesse showed extraordinary courage.

During a pause in the gunfire, he called out to his classmates to run.

Nine of them are alive today because of that choice.

What Scarlett chose to do next is what makes this conversation different.

She did not turn away from what she felt.

She stayed with it.

And from that awareness, a different choice emerged.

Not to close her heart.

But to create something that could help others choose differently.

That choice became the Choose Love Movement.

Today, it is reaching more than 17,500 schools and communities around the world.

"I didn't want to be fighting against something. I want to be for something. I want to be for the most powerful, unifying element in the universe, and that is love."

— Scarlett Lewis

About Scarlett

Scarlett Lewis founded the nonprofit Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement in honor of her son, Jesse, who was murdered during the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in December 2012. Shortly after his death, Scarlett decided to be part of the solution to the issues that we’re seeing in our society — that also caused the tragedy — and turned it into an opportunity to build a culture of love, resilience, forgiveness, and connection in our communities at a time when it is needed the most…

The most powerful thing a human being can do is to choose love.

Authentic power is not strength. It is not control.

It is the alignment of your personality with your soul.

It is choosing love while fear is still present.

Choosing compassion while judgment is active.

This is not something distant.

It is available to you— in every interaction, every reaction, every moment.

"There are two books that I absolutely live my life by. This is one of them. "

Jay-Z

"The intrepid, daring Gary Zukav tells the hard truths."

Maya Angelou

"The Seat of the Soul changed the way I see myself. It changed the way I view the world."

Gwyneth Paltrow

“This is, this is an opportunity. This is a soul agreement. This is, this is a moment for me to level up and learn something.”

Julianne Hough

Lewis Howes

"His teachings have supported millions of people for decades now, transforming their perspective and way of being in the world”

André Duqum

A conversation about the choice that changes everything.

This is an invitation to recognize something in your own life.

In the moments when something feels missing.

When you find yourself searching.

When life is asking you to look within.

Together, we will explore this.

And to ask yourself:

What is this moment asking of me?

You do not need to change everything.

Just one moment.
One reaction.
One choice.

And in that moment—
choose love.

If something in you recognizes this,

we invite you to join us.
